Young Adults Are Facing a Mental Health Crisis
From navigating health insurance and career choices to entering relationships, balancing family responsibilities, and coping with academic pressures, student loan debt, and financial uncertainty, young adults (ages 17-32) in the U.S. are experiencing overwhelming stress. These life transitions—often happening simultaneously—are taking a significant toll on mental health.
A part of this crisis is the fact that certain communities have been historically underserved by the U.S. health system, which includes LGBTQIA+ and POC populations, people with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, and people who are uninsured or underinsured.
ACTNow for Mental Health envisions a world where all young adults have reduced barriers to care, receive the right care at the right time, and are free from mental and behavioral health stigma.
Everyone deserves a starting point. We help young adults find theirs.

Advocacy.
We are a megaphone.
Mental health is fundamental and ANMH is committed to showing up for communities that have too long been underserved by the mental health system. We aim to shine a national light on the mental struggles facing all young adults —while celebrating the successes that prove what’s possible with equitable access to therapy. We empower our network of leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for meaningful policy change from the top down.
Compassion.
We are a community.
The first step towards healing is learning from the experiences of others like ourselves — because when we’re bound by stigma, we have the strength to move beyond it. ANMH is dedicated to providing space for young people from all backgrounds to tell their own stories. We work with mentors and health experts to share information, language, and perspectives that can inspire communities to facilitate their own conversations.
Treatment.
We are a guide.
The experience of seeking treatment shouldn’t feel shameful or out of reach. Instead, it should feel tailored to you and your life. ANMH seeks to connect young adults with a national network of low-cost or free mental health professionals that offer unique, culturally competent therapies. We work together with like-minded organizations and businesses that are really doing the work — to forge new pathways to treatment.
our partners.
Just like you, no group thrives alone. ANMH has partnered with a vibrant community of donors and like-minded organizations with a shared mission of increasing awareness of and improving access to mental and behavioral health services and supports – no matter what your background is. We applaud the work of our partner organizations and invite you visit their websites for more information on the work they are doing.
